ABOUT ME
I was born Christopher Michael Page to Marilyn Malinda and Ross Elliott Page in St. Mary's Hospital, Quincy Illinois. We moved to St Louis where my brother was born. My father and mother divorced when I was about 3. I remember nothing of that time. My memories of my childhood where a bit later. I remeber I was living in Keokuk Iowa at the time when I was attacked by my dog. You can still see the scars on my right cheek and under my right eye. We moved to Pascagoula MS where my mother served in the Air Force for a short time. I remember sitting in on a college class she attended. We packed up one night and moved to a very small town in Texas. I was in 5th grade at the time.
I have traveled a great deal and have attended many different schools in many states including Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Mississippi and Texas.
At age 9 My mother was arrested and sent to prison. I Then had to move in with my aunt living in Quincy IL with my two brothers and two sisters. My aunt could not keep us so the courts sent us to my Grandmother in West Point IL. My oldest sister decided to move in with her dad in Missouri. My grandmother fell ill and so my other sister moved in with her father and my brothers and I were placed into a foster home in Laharpe IL. When my grandmother's health improved, my brothers and I moved back in with my grandmother. Her health once again grew poor so we were once again sent to a foster home however this time my eldest brother was sent to a different foster home and my brother and I were sent back to the same foster home we were in before. They later decided to retire so my brother and I were split up into two different foster homes. I was now all alone separated from my sisters, brothers, mom and dad in Dallas City IL. When I was 13 I was given the option of moving back in with my mother in Vicksburg MS so I did.
My transition back into my mother's home after so many years was quite difficult. So many things have changed since the time that I remembered her. My mother was quite poor living in a very run down neighborhood in the northern part of Vicksburg Mississippi. I found one very good friend and many enemies due to my skin color. I was not accepted there because I was not black. The high school was a 60/40 black and white school. I was not accustomed to the cultures and races of people since all of the schools I attended in Illinois were all white. I tried to blend in and socialize but was pushed out, teased and attacked. I did not do well that year and transferred to Vicksburg high school the next year, a 75/25 black white school.
The very first day I was tested and decided to not lay down and take the abuse any longer. I found my place here with the exception of a few trouble makers who learned to keep their distance. I still found it very difficult to reestablish myself academically. I made many friends and started to earn the respect of people from all cultures and races at this school. I had many white friends and many more black friends. I finally found peace from harrasment but I found it impossible to get back on my feet with my grades. At the end of my 10th grade year my mother found a job opportunity in a nearby town which meant I once again was going to have to move to a different school and make new friends. We moved to Port Gibson MS and I now attended a 100% black school. I did not have one enemy but instead made many new friends. I moved out of my mother's houses when I was 17. I lost my very best friend to a car accident. His Aunt fell asleep at the wheel killing all 4 on board. My friend, Wallace and I had plans of joining the Army and becoming Military Police officers. I took his death very hard. I decided to get away and moved to Illinois near my father in hopes of making a positive change and hopefully get to know the man I never knew. The change ended up being for the worse, I could not handle the schools academic standards which were much higher than Mississippi's. I moved back to Mississippi and stayed with my sister in Vicksburg. I graduated in 1991 from Vicksburg High School in Vicksburg MS with a 1.57 GPA..
After graduation I began working as a school bus driver and continued with my job I had while in high school, delivering pizzas. My life was going absolutely nowhere. I decided that I must do something or else I would fall into a sink hole of problems like many of my classmates and family members did. I decided that I would stick with my decision my friend and I made back in high school to join the Army.
In 1992 I joined the army. I began basic training near Columbia South Carolina, Fort Jackson. I left for A.I.T. (advanced individual training) in December to Ft. Eustis Virginia. I graduated distinguished graduate but was held over awaiting orders. A special operations aviation unit recruiter came looking for possible candidates. I applied in hopes of being accepted into the most elite aviation unit in the US military. I received orders for Ft. Carson Colorado. I was greatly disappointed as was my commander who had hopes of being accepted himself until two days later I received additional orders for Ft. Campbell KY, 160th SOAR. My commander informed me that the 160th's orders override everyone else's. I served 4 1/2 years with the 160th SOAR in Ft. Campbell KY. During this time I attended Aviation Life Support Equipment training in Ft Eustis, VA, Survival School, Near Ft Bragg, NC. I had the pleasure to be able to visit several foreign countries. I was only three hours away from my father so he and I was able to bond as we built my 1977 Chevy Camaro together. I was honorably discharged October 1997.
My wife joined the Air Force in 98 and so we moved to Ft. Dix NJ. Before completing my degree I began working for Philips Lighting in Somerset NJ corporate office. I was the President of Beta Alpha Psi Kappa Epsilon, the Rider Beta Alpha Psi Business Honors Fraternity chapter. I also worked part time in the Graduate Education department as a student employee. I finished my bachelors at Rider University. I received a BSB in 2001.
I decided to look for work closer to home but thanks to 9-11 most of the computer geeks of the world was forced to change careers. I began working as a manager for a school bus transportation corporation in NJ. I continued working as a computer consultant part time. My wife was later accepted into Officer Candidate school and after she graduated we transferred here to Dover. I continued my computer consulting work for a company called Tropian in NJ and several other smaller companies making Access databases for their businesses. I applied to a program analyst position for the CR district but fortunately did not get the job. When I was not hired I began working as a substitute teacher with the Caesar Rodney School district. I did a full time sub position at Postlethwait Middle School. I finanly realized my place in the world. I later began my Graduate course work at Wesley College. CR High School asked me to fill in for a Math position which was long enough for me to fulfill my Student teaching requirement as a 91 day in lieu of student teaching.
I have been working for Caesar Rodney High School as a math teacher ever since...
